NEW PRODUCTS Nanoliter-Scale Immunoassay System Gyrolab xPlore™, a smaller version of the fve-CD Gyrolab™ xP workstation, is a compact, cost-efective, single-CD tool that makes automated nanoliter- scale immunoassays accessible. Using microfuidic technology, Gyrolab xPlore can optimize immunoassay development, enabling faster assay development, validation, and high- throughput analyses in less time than with manual ELISA or semi-automated methods. Gyrolab systems use precise, automated control of centrifugal and capillary forces to steer liquid fow through nanoliter-scale microfuidic structures contained within Gyrolab CDs, automating the assay workfow. Gyros www.gyros.com Microplate Robot with Barcode Imaging System The Spinnaker Smart Laboratory Robot is a four-axis selective compliance articulated robot arm (SCARA) with built-in vision, coupled with Momentum 4 software. It is designed to eliminate the need for users to manually correct for drift that occurs over time by automatically compensating for positional variations. Spinnaker's robot vision capability and software can guide users through a simple step-wise procedure for con- fguring automation and teaching the system about its environment. The robot-vision camera doubles as a barcode reader, enabling automatic confrmation of sample identifcation, which can simplify workfow and contribute to robust sample tracking. The arm's fexible reach, rotation, and full gravity-neutral joints facilitate positioning when teaching or integrating instruments. Thermo Fisher Scientifc www.thermoscientifc.com Microscopes for Live Cell and In Vivo Imaging FluoView FVMPE-RS series' high-speed scan- ner allows observation of ultra-rapid biological responses. The system can obtain vivid images from as deep as 8 mm below the tissue surface. Two new confgurations now expand the series beyond the original upright frame version. The Gantry microscope frame features an ultra- stable arch-like structure that allows considerable space beneath the objective to accommodate experiments of varied sizes. A volume of 640 mm wide, 355 mm high, and 520 mm deep is available if the stage is removed. The inverted microscope frame is ideal for observation of cells in 3D cultures, where multiple layers of cells are cultured in a petri dish or similar vessel. This confguration allows cells that have adhered to the base of the petri dish to be observed without culture fuid touching the objective. Olympus www.olympus-lifescience.com Automated Platform for Nucleic Acid Purifcation The MPure-12TM System is an automated platform for the magnetic bead based purif- cation of nucleic acids from a wide range of biological samples. The system can process from one to twelve samples simultaneously and also incorporates features that eliminate any detectable cross contamination, nucleic acid loss and degradation, wastage of reagents, and ofer repro- ducibility, well-to-well consistency, scalability, and ease-of-use. Platform features include a polygon reaction chamber, robotic liquid han- dling, barcode reader with pre-programmed protocol cards, and a UV lamp. MP Biomedicals www.mpbio.com Next-Generation Sequencing Software Lasergene 12.2 ofers im- provements in the accuracy of next-generation sequence assembly and variant calling. The software can help you more efciently and efec- tively assemble and analyze NGS data by decreasing noise in detecting rare somatic variations and ofering im- proved handling of multi- base substitutions. You'll be able to customize and standardize SNP fltering at any step of a project and al- ternate genetic codes within genomic template packages. Lasergene 12.2 also includes routine and maintenance updates for the following applications: Protean 3D, NovaFold, MegAlign Pro, and DNASTAR Navigator. DNASTAR www.DNASTAR.com Handling System for Laboratory Applications The EXCM mini-H gantry is a desktop handling system for medical laboratory automation. The planar surface gantry system is fast, modular, and fexible. The system moves samples on a planar X/Y axis with an absolute positioning accuracy of + .05 inches and a repetition accuracy of + .01 inches. It is also ofers plug-and-play for quick and easy start up. Typical applications include transfer of micro-well plates, liquid dispensing/pipetting with the addition of a Z-axis, sample preparation and transport, barcode- based sample identifca- tion, sample distribution, and aspirating, incubating, dispensing, and archiving of samples.
