NEW PRODUCTS Gel Imaging System The PXi Access range of compact, multi-application imaging systems can rapidly generate high-quality images. PXi 6 or 9 Access systems are complete with high-performance cameras capable of imaging a wide range of blot and gel types and sizes. PXi Access can image stain-free gels and blots or those stained with any commercial chemilumi- nescence, fuorescence, visible, and IR dyes. For imaging chemi blots, the PXi Access uses a wide dynamic range to optimize exposure for each protein, capable of ac- curately quantifying abundant and poorly expressed proteins. Featuring a touchscreen controlled by GeneSys software, PXi Access Touch ofers an intuitive user experience. Scientists can have publica- tion-quality images of blots and gels (up to 21 cm x 17 cm). Syngene www.syngene.co.uk Solvent Recovery System The SolventTrap SVOC Solvent Recovery System can recover solvents that evaporated during the concentration step prior to injection into the GC or HPLC. The SolventTrap SVOC comes coupled with the DryVap® In-line Drying and Evaporation System for a com- plete dry-evaporate-trap solvent system, consistent with the work- fow and environmentally friendly. The system can recover 95% dichloromethane (DCM) evapo- rated from six 180 mL samples simultaneously, using vacuum and an auxilliary chiller. Additionally, there is less chance of operator exposure to solvent vapors mak- ing the workplace safer. Horizon Technology www.horizontechinc.com Sensors for Flow Rate Measurement The PAT portfolio has been extended to include BioPAT®Flow, sensors for fow rate mea- surement. The process analytics portfolio enables noninvasive, real-time measurement of critical process parameters, such as pH, dissolved oxy- gen, temperature, glucose, lactate, and biomass. BioPAT Flow permits precise, reproducible data to be collected on fow rates and mass balances without coming in contact with the me- dium during measure- ment. The sensors beneft downstream unit by increasing the level of automation. Integrated into system solutions, these sensors are useful tools for designing robust biopharmaceutical processes and further optimizing them. Sartorius Stedim Biotech www.sartorius.com High-Sensitivity Multiplex Immunoassays ProcartaPlex™ Multiplex Immunoassay Panels ofer quantitative mea- surement of secreted biomarkers in plasma, serum, other bodily fuids, and cell culture supernatants. The LLOQs (lower limit of quantif- cation) of these kits are 10-fold lower compared with standard Luminex assays. The sensitivites for all analytes lies in a femtogram range. ProcartaPlex High Sensitivity Assays are available in two core panels. The mouse kit represents the frst High Sensitivity Luminex kit on the market and contains IFN gamma, IL-2, IL-4, IL-6, and TNF alpha. The human kit, a 9plex, includes IFN gamma, IL-1 beta, IL- 2, IL-4, IL-6, IL-10, IL-12p70, IL-17A, and TNF alpha. ProcartaPlex uses the magnetic bead format for increased ease-of-use and throughput. eBioscience www.ebioscience.com PARP Pharmacodynamic Assay The High Throughput PARP in vivo Phar- macodynamic Assay can be used to mon- itor the efcacy of poly-ADP-ribose polymerase (PARP) inhibitors on PAR formation in vivo; and to measure drug action on PARP in both in vivo and in vitro settings. The kit is validat- ed to USP recommended guidelines and fully compatible with laboratory automation systems. Research has shown its utility in measuring PAR levels in peripheral blood mononuclear cells, tissue culture cells, and tumor lysates from diferent tissues, organs, and xenografts. Additionally it can verify observations of enhanced cancer cell cytotoxicity arising from PARP inhibitor/ anticancer drug combination therapy. AMS Biotechnology www.amsbio.com Chromatography System FCPC® (Fast Centrifugal Partition Chromatography) allows for the selection and recovery of desired compounds at analyti- cal, preparative, pilot, and industrial scales. It has four ex- changeable rotors of 25, 50, 200, and 1,000 mL that can adapt to quantities of extract to purify. With no costly solid support or columns to replace, purifcation by FCPC reduces batch-to- batch costs and eliminates the risk of contamination between products. Liquid- liquid centrifugal partition chromatography is fexible, allowing for both ascending and descending modes of operation with no loss of compounds due to adsorp- tion, and no denaturing of sensitive molecules.
