NEW PRODUCTS Palm-Sized DNA Testing Device The Spartan Cube is reportedly the world's smallest commercial molecular di- agnostics device and enables portability and convenience. It's really small—occu- pying roughly the same amount of space as a cofee cup. At only four inches cubed in size, the Cube is portable and fts easily into any space. The Spartan Cube is a PCR-based platform for a variety of molecular diagnostic application includ- ing infectious disease, pharmacogenetics, and food and water testing. In addition, the Cube goes from sample to result in 30 minutes, a fraction of the time compared to traditional lab-based testing. A simple, clean a design allows users to be up and running in seconds. Visual instructions are displayed on screen so a step is never forgotten. In addition to a new design, featuring a 23-inch LCD monitor, the user interface has been revised with an emphasis on workfow, which can be tailored to the sample and data required for experiments, such as collecting Z-stack images in time-lapse mode. As an example, users can now defne a scan area in low magnifcation and acquire images at higher magnifcation. The instrument is also compatible with the Evos Onstage Incubator to enable precise environmental control for demanding live-cell imaging experiments. The platform builds on the success of the original Evos FL Auto Imaging System, which provides researchers with a powerful automated design that does not require expertise in microscopy to perform complex imaging applications. The S4 TStar features up to three diferent X-ray excitation modes and a high perfor- mance, large area XFlash® silicon drift detector (SDD) to ensure extremely low limits of detection for all elements from sodium to uranium. The automatic sample changer ofers a total capacity of up to 90 samples which can be loaded using up to 10 sample trays. A 1500 CFM, 2HP recirculating blower provides horizontal airfow to the workload.
