New Products Triple Quadrupole Mass Spectrometer The new Thermo Scientific iCAP triple quadrupole inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (TQ ICP-MS) system, which was developed to support ultralow detection limits, offers advanced interference removal capabilities designed to overcome noise common in challenging matrices. The system requires minimal user maintenance and includes QCell flatapole technology, a small volume collision/reaction cell with flatapole rods, and a dedicated gas distribution unit for lab safety and maximum flexibility. It also features self-aligning sample introduction components for reproducibility and an ergonomic benchtop design with a compact footprint that saves valu- able lab space. Thermo Fisher Automatic Dry Down Station A new version of Ultravap Mistral automatic dry down station—the Mistral Ex—is now available. With an adapted sample platform, the automa- tion-friendly Mistral Ex is able to remove solvent from a wide range of sample formats including 24 to 384-well format deep and shallow well plates, vials and now test tubes up to 100 mm high. The Mistral Ex uses warm nitrogen gas blown down into the microplate wells, vials or tubes, just above the liquid level. The effect is to speed up solvent evaporation by providing more energy for evaporation. Controlled via a color touchscreen the evaporation table on the Mistral Ex is able to rise under the control of a stepper motor as the drying process proceeds. This can be programmed at a suitable rate for each solvent type being evaporated. Porvair Sciences Cannabis Potency Analyzer The new Cannabis Analyzer for Potency is a high-perfor- mance liquid chromatograph (HPLC) designed specifically for quantitative determination of cannabinoid content. This new HPLC system is a comprehensive package integrating instrument hardware, analytical workflows, and supplies, including an analytical column, guard columns, mobile phase, and a CRM standard mixture. The high-throughput method package is designed for the quantitative potency determination of the 10 cannabinoids of greatest inter- est in less than 8 minutes per sample. The high-sensitivity method package adds THCV to the target analyte list, with an analysis time of 10 minutes. Finally, the high-resolution method package presents full baseline resolution for all 11 compounds in less than 30 minutes. Shimadzu Chemokine Panel for Multiplex Immunoassays The Bio-Plex Pro™ Mouse Chemokine Panel, the newest member in a line of magnetic bead- based multiplex immunoassays. The panel enables detection of more samples than any other available assay, allowing researchers to get more data out of each run. The Bio-Plex Pro Mouse Chemokine Panel offers researchers the ability to map out entire networks of protein biomark- ers—up to 33 biologically relevant mouse chemokines and cytokines—in a single run from small amounts of sample. This new panel provides increased sensitivity with high signal-to- noise ratio, premixed, ready- to-use reagents, and broad panel coverage. The kit comes ready-to-use with 1 x 96-well kit containing premixed magnetic capture beads and detection antibodies, standards, and buffers. Bio-Rad Embryo Cell Culture Media The new ETS-Embryo Medium helps make it possible to simulate major events in mouse em- bryo development without the use of eggs and sperm. This new media allowed researchers to study trophoblast and embryonic stem cells (ESCs), two of the earliest cell types to develop from the fertilized egg. They found that simply growing these two cells together leads to the development of structures termed ETS-Embryos, which strongly resemble mouse embryos in the days immedi- ately following their implanta- tion into the womb. Key to this success was development of "ETS-Embryo Medium" to culture the two stem cell types. The new media is available in convenient 25 mL (5 x 5 mL) or 100 mL pack sizes, along with a simple, easy-to-follow protocol. Cell Guidance Systems Touch-Screen Balances The Symmetry ® Touch- Screen Balances are designed with innova- tive features to give lab professionals more con- venience and efficiency when weighing. This new family of balances provides accurate measurements of weighed loads for micro, top-loading, analytical, and mois- ture applications. An intuitive 5" capacitive touch-screen display provides clear visibility to weighing results and menu options. Infrared (IR) proximity sensors offer programmable touch-free control to minimize cross-contamination. Automatic and manual internal adjustments ensure accurate weighing. These balances also feature external calibration, Wi-Fi connection to peripheral devices, and an "autotest GLP function" that pro- vides an enhanced summary to aid in assessing balance operation and diagnosing reasons for occurrence of errors in weighing.
