New Products Microencapsulation Droplet System The Telos® droplet system, designed for high throughput and easy scale up, provides scientists with excellent modular component process control system, and the ability to choose from a range of particle diameters between 10–50 µm on a single piece of hardware. PLGA, or poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid), is a copolymer commonly used for drug microencapsu- lation. Precise manipulation of particle size, shape, and architecture is extremely important to the efficacy of the candidate drug. However, conventional emulsion-based batch methods result in uneven API distribution and particle polydispersity, requiring additional size-selection and leading to low particle yields and significant loss of API. Dolomite's continuous flow microfluidic method overcomes these obstacles, providing almost 100% encapsulation within precisely controlled, monodisperse PLGA particles, in a single repro- ducible step. Dolomite Flow-Cytometry Pump Hydrodynamic focusing of individual cells is achieved only with the aid of a con- tinuous and precise sheath flow. The speed of the sheath flow determines the speed of the cells and must be constant. Even small deviations lead to measure- ment errors. Micro-annular gear pumps are character- ized by low pulse and low shear delivery, minimal dead volume, and a long service life. Because of their low weight and compact design, they are ideally suited for integration in analytical instruments. Depending on the laser excitation wavelength, this permits detection of any fluorescence emission in the 400–900nm range without having to change optical filters.
