When paired with dedicated software and disposable kits, the system enables operators to set the software to automate an in- dividual cell processing step or a series of steps. Many of the cell therapy manufactur- ing process steps remain largely disconnected and require a human operator to manually transfer cells from step to step, leading to more opportunities for contamination. This next-generation Sefia system maintains a temperature-controlled environment, allows operators to perform centrifuge- based processes of up to 10 L of cellular product, and features weight sensors that automati- cally measure product volume. Also, its embedded computer system runs process automation and tracks data throughout the procedure. GE Healthcare Microscope Stage The AV-25000 Flat-Top Extended Travel Stage is designed for the Zeiss Axio Observer micro- scope. The stage travels 250 mm in the x-axis and 110 mm in the y-axis. It accepts either 160 x 110 or 283 x 110 stages inserts. It also offers encoder resolution of 22 nm and speeds up to 7 mm/sec with standard leadscrew. The stage typical repeatability is less than 700 nm RMS. When the stage is used with a linear encoder, repeatability is less than 300 nm RMS. Applied Scientific Instrumentation High-Capacity Evaporator The Rocket Evaporator has a high-volume sample capacity and unique technology that eliminates cross-contamination due to sample bumping. Ad- ditionally, the new system has automated moni- toring of temperature and pressure to prevent sample degradation. Employing SampleGenie™ technology, users can dry samples directly into preweighed vials, reducing sample prepara- tion time and facilitating straightforward determination of the extraction yield. Using a low-temperature technology, the Rocket Evaporator aids natural product research- ers seeking to extract novel molecules from natural sources safely. The latest Rocket Synergy Evaporators offer integrated, flex- ible solutions for processing a wide range of sample volumes. Interchangeable rotors will accommodate tubes, flasks, and batch volumes of up to 100 L. Genevac Preswollen Cellulose IonSep DEAE-cellulose (dieth- ylaminoethyl cellulose) and CM-cellulose (carboxymethyl cellulose) are preswollen ion-exchange media specially formulated for ease of use and high binding capacities. DEAE-cellulose is a weak anion-exchange resin with a protein-loading capacity of 550–900 mg/g (pH 8.5), and CM-cellulose is a weak cation-exchange resin with a binding capacity greater than 1 g/g (pH 5.0). Both DEAE and CM celluloses are preswollen to between 65% and 75% moisture content and are available in 100 g, 500 g, and 1 kg quantities. Biophoretics Automated UV-Visible Spectrophotometers Instruments from the Genesys UV-Vis spec- trophotometer family are now available for industrial QA/QC technicians, instructors, and university researchers. The Gene- sys 50 features a simplified UI and a high-resolution, color touchscreen. The rugged exterior, built for repeti- tive and heavy use environments, is designed with sloping surfaces to shed spills. The Genesys 50 has a single-cell configuration for low sample throughput needs, with a removable, washable sampling compartment for easy cleanup. The Genesys 150 includes the same features as the Genesys 50, in addition to provid- ing automation for high-throughput options and room-light resistance, allowing lid-open operation designed for improved speed and con- venience over previous generation instruments. The 180 has all the features of the 150, and also includes an eight-cell changer for higher throughput environments and double-beam capability for advanced experiments with a changing reference. Thermo Fisher Scientific Integrated Fluorimeter The FWS Fluorimeter is a rapid fluorimeter for use in a wide range of appli- cations. Specifically, the FWS Fluorimeter integrates the Mighty Light, a tungsten halogen lamp, with the Flexible Wavelength Selector to provide a high-power, tunable, monochro- matic beam for excitation. The detection portion uses a high signal-to-noise CCD for fast and sensitive detection of fluorescence. Currently, three models are offered based on the sensitivity of different detector platforms to cover many photonic applications. The key product advantages are high excitation power using TwinFilm™ technology, low dark noise and stray light using high-speed CCD, and fast acquisition of spectrum using the new software interface.
