3D Protein Structure John Kendrew, Ph.D., was a British biochemist who had a penchant for protein structures. In 1958, along with his colleagues, Dr. Kendrew published the first 3D model of a protein—the iron/oxygen binding protein myoglobin. In 1962, Dr. Kendrew and Max Perutz would share the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for their seminal work in protein structure analysis.
