DNA Structure Published Undoubtedly one of the most important discoveries of the 20th century, the landmark paper by James Watson, Ph.D. and Francis Crick, Ph.D., was published in Nature in April 1953. Critical experimental data to support the double helix model was published in the same issue by the groups of Maurice Wilkins, Ph.D., and Rosalind Franklin, Ph.D. Drs. Watson, Crick, and Wilkins would go on to share the 1962 Noble Prize in Physiology and Medicine for their groundbreaking discovery.
