Hello Dolly! In 1996, Dolly became the world's most famous sheep after claiming the honor of being the world's first cloned mammal. While at the Roslin Institute within the University of Edinburgh, Keith Campbell, Ph.D., and Ian Wilmut, Ph.D., created Dolly using three mothers: one provided the egg, another the DNA, and a third carried the cloned embryo to term. The technique of somatic cell nuclear transfer was used to accomplish this feat.
