NEW PRODUCTS Drug Discovery Software The StarDrop™ platform can guide research- ers in the design of high-quality com- pounds in drug discovery, agrochemicals, and other chemistry felds. The launch of version 6.1 introduces the Matsy™ technology, based on matched molecular series analysis, which proposes strate- gies for chemical substitutions to optimize compound activity. Also included is a major upgrade to StarDrop's P450 metabolism module that facilitates the design of com- pounds with improved metabolic stability, in addition to enhancements to the platform's data analysis and management capabilities. The addition of the Matsy algorithm extends the capabilities of StarDrop's Nova™ module that automatically generates and prioritizes novel compound ideas. Matsy searches databases of matched molecular series to identify chemical substitutions that are most likely to improve target activity. Optibrium Remote Monitoring Application Cell biology and screening scientists and technicians can now be free to monitor and control their automated incubators from virtually any loca- tion outside the laboratory where Wi-Fi internet access is available. The Cy- mon remote moni- toring application essentially replicates the Next Generation Display of the Cytomat 10 Automated Incubator on a Samsung 10.1-in. touch screen tablet, which can be operated remotely. The Cymon application is available as an option for the Cytomat 10 incubator, which includes the ap- plication, a tablet, and a wireless router. Thermo Fisher Scientifc Immunoassay Services for Single Molecule Array Platform The launch of new immunoassay ser- vices based on Quanterix' ultrasensi- tive Simoa™ (single molecule array) platform can provide insights into both the underlying mechanisms of disease and the safety and efcacy of pharmaceuticals. With sensitivity and full automation, Simoa can ben- eft both research and clinical testing applications. Initially, the assay services will be ofered for the study of infammatory and autoimmune diseases. Simoa- based quantitative immunoassays for interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-alpha) have been manufactured and validated. Each assay includes calibrators and controls to provide multiple measurements of quality, precision, and accuracy. Myriad RBM Thermal Shift Assay Application The LightCycler® 1536 is a 1536-well plate-based real- time PCR platform that is capable of producing data for high-throughput gene expression profling and high-throughput genotyping. A new protein melting application has been added to the instrument. The fully automated platform now allows life science researchers to perform thermal shift assays (TSAs) in 1536-well applications quickly and consistently. The Therma-Base technology that is common to Light- Cycler instruments allows for uniform temperature distribution across the block, without any intermedi- ate hold times. LightCycler instruments can heat as quickly as 4.8° C per second, which improves speed and accuracy in protein melt results. Roche DNA Purifcation Kit The ZymoPURE™ large-scale (Midi/Maxi/Giga) plasmid DNA purifcation kit ofers innovative binding technol- ogy that allows DNA to be purifed using a microcentri- fuge column via vacuum or centri- fuge, with Midi and Maxipreps taking 18 minutes or less. Ultrapure transfection-grade plasmid DNA is eluted directly from the spin column into a 1.5 mL microcentrifuge tube and is well-suited for transfection and other sensitive applications. Zymo Research Well Microdialysis Plate for Protein Crystallography The 96-well microdi- alysis plate is suitable for the desalting of protein from very small volumes. It can allow for unique matrix chang- ing in protein crystallization applications. The Diaplate™ is ANSI/SBS compatible providing for high-throughput use with robotic dispensing. Each of the 96 wells has a separate regenerated cellulose membrane inside to prevent cross contamination or leakage. Up to 0.35 mL dialysis solution is used for exchange with dialysis complete in 2–4 hours. The Diaplate comes as a standard molecular weight cut of of 10,000 daltons, others are available upon request.
